After one of the biggest off-season's in NBA history, Carmelo Anthony is still trying to get out of Denver. Find out his comments after their first game plus the teams he may go to when you read on...
Although the Denver Nuggets dominated the Utah Jazz in their season opener, Melo still had negative comments to say about the team. After the victory, Carmelo told reporters,
"They want to sit down and talk, but my thing is it’s way beyond this year, it ain’t got nothing to do with the new GM, (president) Josh (Kroenke), the players. For me, I feel it’s a time for change. If I do nothing now, I’m never going to do anything. I feel like my time is now to make a decision if I want to leave or if I want to stay.”
The Nuggets offered Carmelo a three year extension worth $64 mil in June, but Melo is still refusing this offer. Last month the New Jersey Nets were close to getting Carmelo in a four way trade, but the Nuggets failed to go through. The Knicks, with the help of Spike Lee, are also very interested in acquiring Carmelo.
Carmelo is very interested in signing with the Knicks, which he would be able to do in the next off-season. However, a trade is still possible. Last season, Melo averaged 28 points and 6 rebounds a game. The Nuggets lost in the first round of the playoffs.
Refusing $64 mill? Looks like Melo and his new wife Lala are itching to get closer to their NY home...
