Rapper is latest star to appear in Brisk beverage commercials.

The Black Eyed Peas and Justin Bieber may have some additional superstar company on Sunday. Eminem will make an appearance during the Super Bowl in a commercial for Lipton Brisk Iced Tea, the New York Post reported on Monday (January 31).
For a reported $1 million payday, Em will be remade into a claymation character in a commercial described by an unnamed insider as "very funny." While it's a rare promotional gig for the press-shy Detroit MC, he's the latest star to appear in the series of stop-motion ads for the beverage, following previous spots starring metal icon Ozzy Osbourne — who is set to co-star with Bieber in a Super Bowl commercial for Best Buy — and go-to tattooed bad-guy actor Danny Trejo ("Machete").
Spokespersons for Eminem and Brisk parent company Unilever could not be reached for comment at press time about the ad, but it's certainly expected to be a step up from the joke infomercial he did last year to help launch Recovery.
The Lipton commercial reportedly showcases a day in the life of Eminem. And after five years of reclusive behavior, Eminem appears poised to come out of his shell a bit more. He recently signed rapper Yelawolf and group Slaughterhouse to his Shady Records label. On the film front, he's signed to star as a boxer in the drama "Southpaw" and is reportedly in talks to star as an ex-con in the movie "Random Acts of Violence."
Eminem's also slated to perform at the Grammy Awards on February 13, where he's got a leading 10 nominations, including the coveted Album of the Year for his comeback effort, Recovery. The rapper appears in a touching 30-second spot that promotes the awards show and showcases his legacy, from the loss of friend and fellow MC Proof to his struggles through drug dependency and his rise back to the top of the hip-hop game.

'I love nudity,' Brian Friedman teases about Jonas Åkerlund-directed clip.

Sure, details are limited on what the Jonas Åkerlund-directed video for Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me" is going to look like, but when Brit's choreographer, Brian Friedman, sat down with MTV News, he teased some scintillating details about the video.
"I didn't necessarily have pressure with this — it was more excitement," he said of working with the pop diva again. "I haven't been with Britney in five years on a project, so it was excitement to be back with her. It was excitement to get her dancing really hard again 'cause she's had a couple of years where she's been dancing different styles of dance and it hasn't been me.
"It's not necessarily that she hasn't been dancing, it hasn't been what I get from her, and what I seem to get from her is this tigress quality," he continued. "And she prowls. She really dominates when she does my choreography, and that's what I wanted to get back. Excited yes, scared no."
Shot over two days last weekend, the video shows Spears in a look she tweeted from the set. The preview pic, a lo-res photo, shows Spears from the shoulders up, standing with her back to the camera and her face turned toward it. The singer is in a red outfit, surrounded by a wreath of microphones.
While Friedman danced around any specific details about the clip, he did share that the video will have 10 male dancers. He also told us his favorite part: "I love nudity," he teased.
"I can tell you that Britney is wearing a couple of hats in this video — not literal hats, but she's playing roles in this video. That is what I can give you," he explained. "In every role, she is dancing. She is going to be dancing throughout the whole video. Like I said: Dance is the focal point of this video."
He also teased a bit about the costumes: "She's taking fashion risks. Things we've never seen her wear before she's wearing in this video, and I think it's just very sexy and it's a little bit playful," he added. "She's going to be doing something in this video that we've never seen her do. I'm not gonna tell you what that is but she's going to be sweating and she's going to be getting bruised and battered."

It's the home stretch to the Academy Awards. For tonight's 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, a few YBF celebs hit the red carpet in their Sunday best.
Pics when you read on...
Curvy "Glee" star Amber Riley hit the carpet in this beautiful black one shoulder, rose embellished mermaid bottom and sweetheart neckline gown designed by Anne Barge.
Very flattering look for her. Ruching in the right places and rose detail also in the right places. Chick looks simply fantabulous. One of my fave gowns tonight.
"Private Practice" star Taye Diggs rocked a fantastic black suit topped off with a large grey plaid bowtie which made his look pop.
Lookin' good Mr. Diggs.
Rosario Dawson hit the carpet in this flowy and simple yet pretty pale yellow gown by J. Mendel.
Tracy Morgan and his date, whose Halston Heritage gown does nothing for her by the way, hit the carpet looking like they were having more fun than everyone else.
The "30 Rock" star has been on a winning team all award season as his cast and show have been winning several awards.
LL Cool J, the star of "NCIS: Los Angeles," hit the carpet in head to toe all black Giorgio Armani. And looked good as usual doing so.
Eva Longoria looked understated sexy in this flowing and revealing off-white white Grecian-style Georges Hobeika gown. The open back and open sides, extremely deep V and upswept hair make this look perfect.

Actor has been linked to Superman reboots since 2002.

Henry Cavill

It took Henry Cavill far longer than expected to complete his journey from Krypton to Earth. Years after the British actor first circled the role of Superman, he finally landed the part of the Man of Steel in Zack Snyder's reboot of the storied comic franchise.
It was, indeed, a circuitous path for Cavill, involving brushes with other heroes and the planet's most swoon-worthy vampire. He's been this close to becoming a breakout Hollywood star a staggering number of times, but until now he was unable to seal the deal. Now his life is about to change in a big way. As we applaud Cavill for winning the part, let's take a look back at the ups and downs he endured before signing on to play the world's most iconic man in tights.
2002:
Though he was mostly known as a stage actor, Cavill's name cropped up in "Superman" conversations following director Brett Ratner's stated desire to cast an unknown in the title role of his in-the-works reboot. Ratner also had a strong interest in future "White Collar" star Matthew Bomer, but the studio pushed him in the direction of established talent like Jude Law and Josh Hartnett. It didn't matter, though: Ratner left the project early the next year.
2003:
McG came aboard to replace Ratner and began to search, like Ratner, for an unknown actor to play Superman. Cavill actually ended up landing the role.
"I was attached to the McG 'Superman' movie," he explained to MTV News in 2009. But McG's version of the film never came to pass and Cavill once again missed out on the opportunity to play the Man of Steel.
That same year, following rumors that Cavill was being considered for the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan's reboot, Christian Bale won the role of the Caped Crusader.
2004:
After McG's departure from "Superman," Bryan Singer hopped into the director's chair and targeted an unknown actor. But the actor wasn't Cavill. Instead, Brandon Routh won the lead role.
"[The McG and Singer versions] were two different movies," Cavill explained in '09. "So it wasn't so much of a sting because it was like, 'Oh, I got [the role],' and then the movie just didn't happen."
2005:
Cavill wouldn't have been faulted for avoiding any contact with iconic film characters, but he kept pushing. In '05, he screen-tested for the role of James Bond in "Casino Royale." But the part went instead to Daniel Craig, and Cavill, perhaps, was left with his confidence shaken, not stirred.
2007:
By this point, Cavill had mostly appeared in low-profile films like the direct-to-video "Hellraiser: Hellworld" and in supporting roles in higher-profile fare like "Tristan & Isolde." But the guy got a break when he was cast in the Showtime series "The Tudors," opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The series enjoyed a successful run, lasting four seasons and earning a Golden Globe nomination in 2007 for best drama.
Cavill had also reportedly been "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's top pick to play Edward Cullen, but at the end of '07, the role went to Robert Pattinson. A few years later, we asked Cavill how close he had actually come to playing the vampire. "I've heard this, but I haven't heard from Stephenie," Cavill told us. "I haven't spoken to her personally, and I haven't spoken to the producers."
2009:
Rumor has it that Cavill was competing for the role of Hal Jordan in the long-gestating big-screen adaptation of "Green Lantern." And — surprise, surprise — after losing out on Batman and Superman, Cavill failed to land the role. Instead, Ryan Reynolds signed on to play Jordan.
2011:
At long, long last, the guy who missed out on playing some of pop culture's best known characters officially signs on to play Superman.
"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen," Snyder said in a statement. "I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield."

But is it here to stay? Our music-industry experts weigh in.
By Akshay Bhansali
Ke$ha
Photo: Andreas Rentz/ Getty Images
In 2010, pop princesses, R&B icons and chart-dominating newcomers all danced to the same beat. Not only did dance music go pop, but pop music caught the club-music bug.
Between Katy Perry's "Firework," Ke$ha's "We R Who We R," Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)," Enrique Iglesias' "I Like It," Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and "OMG" and countless other singles, established artists definitely looked to dance beats for surefire hits. And two of this year's biggest success stories in music were Jason Derülo and Taio Cruz; could there be a soul left in this country who hasn't heard "Dynamite" or "In My Head"?
The love went both ways, with dance music's biggest stars finding mainstream success this year. Dance-music maestro deadmau5 took up house-artist duties at this year's VMAs, and Swedish House Mafia and Usher teamed up for a medley of their gems at the American Music Awards.
So how did this happen? We caught up with some music-industry experts to get their takes.
"You definitely saw tempos go up this year," Jon Caramanica of The New York Times told MTV News. "And I think what you had are a lot of producers who are really familiar with nightclub stuff. They are familiar with Europe. Things are happening on a more global scale now."
"I think everything from Europe, and sometimes even Asia, it comes to America, and we just adopt things a little bit slower," said Jared Eng of JustJared.com. "I think it was just a change. People like different types of music at different times. And dance was of this moment."
Noah Callahan of Complex magazine added: "I think 2010 saw the merging of the pop and dance genres. Pop artists realized that there were best practices that could be borrowed from dance music. And, ultimately, [all] pop music that has been made in the past 20 years had ended up being remixed for the club by dance artists. I think they basically just cut out the middleman and went straight there."
Dance music being introduced into the hip-hop and R&B realms was particularly notable this year.
"I think David Guetta kind of at the end of last year and the beginning of this year spearheaded it," said freelance writer Julianne Escobedo Shepherd. "He produced a lot of tracks. I think as trends go, people revile 'unst-unst.' But it's just coming back around. Big-room techno was a way for people to get decadent in a year that no one could get decadent."
"You have someone like will.i.am, who's like, 'Well, I spent all this time in Ibiza, and this is what they are doing,' and he wants to find a way to bring that into his music," Caramanica said of the Black Eyed Peas mastermind. "R&B especially became dance music. And especially with your Jason Derülos, Taio Cruzes. Guys like that would have literally been blocked at the border two years ago. That would not have made it through customs. And now all of a sudden they have #1 songs. I think will.i.am had a lot to do with that last year."
Elliott Wilson of RapRadar.com added: "It's actually even affected hip-hop. I was talking to Q-Tip, and his next record, I feel like that's gonna kind of go in that vein. I know that was also Jay-Z's thought process with Blueprint 3 at first, that he wanted to make a little bit more of a world music [vibe], a little more dancey. I think the kids today want to go to the clubs. They wanna have a good time. They wanna dance. So I think the artists of today are trying to kind of feed that audience."
"I think it's caught on this year because the people who've done it have been successful," offered Clover Hope of Vibe magazine. "Like 'OMG,' with usher, he didn't have success until he made a dance record. He had 'There Goes My Baby' and these really, like, adult-contemporary records that didn't really catch on. And then once you see that everybody is doing it and that people are liking it, they are like, 'OK, let me just try this out.' It's like Auto-Tune. Like, 'Let me see what I sound like on a record by David Guetta.' They end up liking it and doing more of it."
So does the club-music trend have staying power. According to our tastemakers, not so much.
"I do think it's a blip," Caramanica said. "I don't think that's gonna be something that lasts in America. I think this is gonna be a moment we'll all look back on and go, 'Wasn't that weird when Jason Derülo and Taio Cruz had #1 records?"
"At some point, these R&B artists will get kind of sick of it and be like, 'Let me go back to my soul background,' " Hope said. "When you actually have to say something, dance doesn't really lend itself to substance. And I think that R&B artists, they really want to talk about love and in a deep way, and to do that, you need to do, like, a soul or a traditional R&B record. I want to say that it's kind of a fad."
"I think music is very cyclical," Eng offered. "So I think dance music might be here for a little bit, but I'm sure it will phase out at some point."
Wilson called dance music "the sound of today. I think that people want more aggressive, faster beats, and I think that that probably has legs until at least next summer."
What do you think? Is dance music here to stay? Let us know in the comments!

Bieber's 30-second spot will debut one week before his 3-D movie's Valentine's Day weekend opening.

Who says that young girls don't care about Super Bowl Sunday? This year there's a big reason for tweens, teens and non-football fans to get in on the action. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new spot for Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" 3-D flick will run during the super special post-Super Bowl episode of "Glee."
The 30-second commercial is set to air during the February 6 episode of the hit Fox comedy. The film opens one week later, on Valentine's Day weekend. THR further reports that the ad will be shown during "Glee" and not the Super Bowl proper since the film's target demographic is more likely to tune in to the musical TV show than the big game.
This is not the first time Bieber has teamed up with a major sporting event to support a release. During Game 3 of last year's World Series, the teen pop star debuted a mini-music video for the unplugged version of his song "Never Say Never" to promote his acoustic album, My Worlds Acoustic.
Bieber's flick isn't the only movie taking advantage of the Super Bowl's massive viewership. Several blockbusters will air commercials on Fox sometime during the evening, whether it's preshow, during the game or, in Bieber's case, postshow. It reportedly costs about $3 million for 30 seconds of airtime on the big night.
Variety reports that the movies "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," "Super 8," "Thor," "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "Cowboys and Aliens," "Priest," "Kung Fu Panda 2," "Just Go With It," "Battle: Los Angeles," "Limitless," "Rango" and "The Eagle" all will have commercials broadcast during Super Bowl Sunday.

It looks like Charlie Sheen is out of the woods -- for now.
The troubled actor was rushed to the hospital Thursday morning after complaining of severe abdominal pains. TMZ now reports that the Two and a Half Men star has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. Sources say he will return to work on Tuesday and will not be going back to rehab.
Reports said that the actor, 45, spent Wednesday night partying and doing cocaine at his home with a group of porn stars. But Sheen's camp insists that his ailment was not the result of a drug overdose. Instead, the actor reportedly suffered a hernia.
A friend of the actor opened up about Sheen's drama to People. "He definitely did not OD but, yes, he was partying," the source says. "He doesn't think he's going to die. He doesn't want to stop. In his eyes, he thinks, 'I'm having fun, so what? I'm making $2 million a week, the show has the best ratings, I show up for up work. What's the problem?'"
But according to porn star Kacey Jordan (who claims she partied with Sheen on Wednesday), the actor is heading down a slippery slope. TMZ caught Jordan on camera giving a play-by-play of their wild night. "When I first saw him, he was just f***in' wasted out of his mind," she says. Jordan then describes how Sheen had a large amount of cocaine delivered to the party. "We're talking like $20 grand, I swear, of coke." Eventually the porn star had had enough and decided it was time to go home. "If I didn't leave, I'd probably be in the hospital, because I couldn't keep up," she says.
Jordan also admits that she's worried for Sheen's safety. "I hope he's well, but these binges...if he keeps doing this...I just hope he gets better," she says.
Seems like Sheen might want to rethink his decision to pass on rehab.

Ahh, "Saturday Night Live." Thank you for making our interwebian dreams come true. On Saturday's episode, Jesse Eisenberg of "The Social Network" hosted and in his opening monologue, shared with us his knowledge of the menstrual cycle. Soon after, he was joined on stage by (Andy Samberg and) Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook creator who Jesse portrayed not-so-flatteringly in the movie. It was every bit as awkward as we all imagined. Oh, but I did have a few breakthroughs while watching: First, I realized that these two dudes share the second half of their last names. And also that Zuckerberg sounds a lot like a not-so-happy Kermit the Frog.

Producer says he was 'in NYC tryin' to make tracks' for B and Bells' songwriter/guitarist.

Over the years, Diplo has worked with everyone from Thom Yorke to Spank Rock (and, of course, M.I.A.) so perhaps it should come as no surprise that, for his next collaboration, he's chosen to work with none other than Beyoncé. Oh, and electro-slammers Sleigh Bells, too. It all makes sense, in some bizarre way.
This is according to Dip himself, who posted a message — and a remix of the Sleigh Bells track "Tell 'Em" — on his blog, in which he let it be known that he, his production partner Switch and Sleigh Bells' songwriter/guitarist Derek Miller just wrapped sessions for Beyoncé's follow-up to I Am ... Sasha Fierce. He wasn't quite sure what would come of the tracks they created.
"Me and Switch was in [the] studio in NYC tryin' to make tracks with Derek and Beyoncé last week after we played her team [Sleigh Bells'] album," Diplo wrote. "Dunno if we gonna manage to finish, but [it] was good times."
At the very least, you know Bey's husband, indie-rock fan Jay-Z, is pumped by the news. Diplo is just the latest in an ever-growing list of top-flight producers who have worked with Beyoncé in recent months. There's still no release date or tentative title for her upcoming album, but she's logged studio time with the likes of S1 (he of "Power" fame), Ne-Yo, Sean Garrett and Jim Jonsin.
A spokesperson for Beyoncé did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the Diplo tracks by press time.

With tag lines like "My World Includes Passion for Animals, Yours Should Too" and "Animals Can Make U Smile, Adopt From Your Local Shelter," Justin Bieber has joined forces with PETA as the latest celebrity spokesperson for the animal-rights organization.
The pop singer and a papillon pup named Bijou posed for the ads, asking fans to adopt animals from a shelter. Bieber also shot a video for the campaign that has been posted online. In the clip, he says, "A lot of animals are getting abused in different homes ... and I think it's really important we just stay aware about these different situations."
Bieber goes on to recalls his own experiences with animal shelters. "I have a dog, his name is Sam. He's actually a papillon," the teen star explained. "We moved to a city where we didn't really know anybody, so I wanted a friend and Sam was kind of like that friend.
"My dad and I used to just go visit the different animals and stuff," he continued, while suggesting that people get involved with the campaign. "It's really important that people adopt. I really encourage going out to an animal shelter or a place where you can get a dog that has been abandoned or doesn't have a home."
In his punny photo ads for the organization, the pop sensation sports his signature bangs and hoodie. The pics were shot by Cliff Watts, who has photographed other stars such as Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Beyoncé and Angelina Jolie in the past.
Bieber joins a long line of celebrities who have posed, many often nude, for PETA campaigns. Khloé Kardashian, Pamela Anderson, Paul McCartney, Eva Mendes, Pink and Mark Ronson, to name a few, have been featured in previous PETA ads.

Movie's director was admitted to the hospital after suffering a perforated ulcer.

Perhaps director Peter Jackson should consider tinkering with the title of his upcoming "Lord of the Rings" two-part prequel. Instead of just "The Hobbit," might we suggest "The Curse of the Hobbit" or perhaps "The Haunted Hobbit"?
The star-crossed road to filming the movies, for which Jackson is director, executive producer and screenwriter, hit another roadblock this week when the start of filming was pushed back after Jackson was hospitalized. Deadline Hollywood reported that Jackson was admitted to a hospital in Wellington, New Zealand, on Wednesday with acute stomach pains and underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer.
"Sir Peter is currently resting comfortably and his doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Sir Peter's surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to 'The Hobbit' beyond a slight delay to the start of filming," read a statement from the movie's production company.
It's just the latest setback for the films, which were put in limbo for a while when studio MGM froze production while it went into bankruptcy, and then dealt another major blow last summer when director Guillermo del Toro announced he was dropping out after nearly two years of prep work. Then there was a dustup with the New Zealand actors union that almost caused the production to pick up stakes and move elsewhere.
When Jackson is ready to begin again, his cast for the 3-D prequel will be ready to go. Elijah Wood's recent deal to reprise his "Lord of the Rings" role as Frodo was accompanied by news that Andy Serkis has signed on to once again play Gollum, and it's looking like Ian McKellen is poised to reprise the part of Gandalf in what's being called "a major role" in the new films. Cate Blanchett has already signed on to play Galadriel, Christopher Lee is in talks for Saruman, and Ian Holm is in talks for the elder Bilbo Baggins, whose younger version will be played by Martin Freeman. There's no word yet if Orlando Bloom, who portrayed Legolas in "LOTR," will return for "The Hobbit."

Movie will be directed and produced by the Oscar winner.

Beyoncé Knowles is headed back to the big screen and into the familiar territory of playing an aspiring singer-turned-superstar. According to Deadline, Knowles will star in a remake of "A Star Is Born," to be directed and produced by Oscar winner Clint Eastwood for Warner Bros.
The remake will be the fourth telling of the "A Star Is Born" tale, the most memorable in recent years being the 1976 version with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson as star-crossed lovers of sorts. It is also worth mentioning that the producers of that film, Billy Gerber and Jon Peters, are also attached to this new project. It is said to be a full-on musical with production set to begin sometime in the fall.
Naturally, the plot details are under wraps, but the original story revolves around an aspiring singer who meets and falls in love with a troubled, failing former star who helps get the young ingénue her big break in the business.
No announcements have been made with regard to the male lead, but the report mentioned that major names like Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Hamm have been floated around.
It's definitely an interesting step for Knowles but not necessarily a surprise, given the fact that the majority of her film roles have been as singers ("Cadillac Records," "Dreamgirls," "The Fighting Temptations"). While many thought "Dreamgirls" would bring awards recognition for Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson's supporting role ended up garnering the most attention. With Oscar fave Eastwood at the helm of this new project, Knowles could be in line for some hardware yet.
